Ms. Claire Wu

Resident Assistant Tembusu College National University of Singapore

Claire is a third year undergraduate majoring in Philosophy, and settling a second-something in Business plus a minor in Art History. Armed with this strange education background, she wants to eventually work in the depths of the artworld.

Claire is a big fan of all things art and theory, queer culture and the absurd. She’s a Very Online person, and communicates via memes. Her alignment is chaotic good. When not rushing essays, Claire frequents Tabletops, tFreedom and Filmbusu, and can occasionally be spotted at tBoxing, extremely out of breath.

Claire is somewhat of a cat lady aunt friend and her room is always open to whoever seeks advice, conversation, essay help or procrastination. She tries her best to be a good listener and shoulder to lean on. As a Residential Assistant in her second semester at Tembusu, Claire aims to help everyone feel as immediately at home here as she did. She's currently on a mission to try every bubble tea brand on the island - feel free to join her in this ever important project.

The Tembusu (Fagraea fragrans) is a large evergreen tree in the family Gentianaceae. It is native to Southeast Asia. Its trunk is dark brown, with deeply fissured bark, looking somewhat like a bittergourd. It grows in an irregular shape from 10 to 25m high. Its leaves are light green and oval in shape. Its yellowish flowers have a distinct fragrance and the fruits of the tree are bitter tasting red berries, which are eaten by birds and fruit bats.
