Dr Eric Kerr

Having originally trained as a lawyer in Scotland (LLB, Aberdeen), Eric moved into philosophy (Ph.D., Edinburgh) and now writes and teaches on contemporary issues in science, technology, and society. His doctoral dissertation combined social epistemology and ethnographic fieldwork with oil and gas engineers in Thailand. Since then he has continued his research into the philosophy and sociology of engineering as well as other topics including digital culture, medical ethics, and the aims of education. He is the Editor-in-Chief of Social Epistemology and Co-Investigator (with A/P Michael Charles Dunn) of the Ministry of Education Academic Research Fund Tier 2 project, “Epistemic Cultures in the Management of Chronic Illness in Singapore” (2026-2029). Previously, Eric was Director of Student Life (2021-2022) and Residential Life (2023-2026).
