The Tembusu (Fagraea fragrans) is a large evergreen tree in the family Gentianaceae. It is native to Southeast Asia. Its trunk is dark brown, with deeply fissured bark, looking somewhat like a bittergourd. It grows in an irregular shape from 10 to 25m high. Its leaves are light green and oval in shape. Its yellowish flowers have a distinct fragrance and the fruits of the tree are bitter tasting red berries, which are eaten by birds and fruit bats. Source: Tembusu, Wikipedia

Mr. Elvis Hoxhaj is one of the leading activists in the LGBT movement in Albania, a movement whose emancipatory politics have made it one of the pioneers in Europe because of its strong focus on awareness raising through education and art. Mr Hoxhaj has also participated in, and managed, several international human rights projects in collaboration with the Council of Europe, United Nations, and the Swedish Institute. He’ll be happy to talk with you, among other things, about the human rights situation for LBT people in Albania as well as the Balkans in general, and to discuss innovative methods of activism that rely on creativity.
