The Tembusu (Fagraea fragrans) is a large evergreen tree in the family Gentianaceae. It is native to Southeast Asia. Its trunk is dark brown, with deeply fissured bark, looking somewhat like a bittergourd. It grows in an irregular shape from 10 to 25m high. Its leaves are light green and oval in shape. Its yellowish flowers have a distinct fragrance and the fruits of the tree are bitter tasting red berries, which are eaten by birds and fruit bats. Source: Tembusu, Wikipedia

Chloe Tan is the project manager of the Love Our MacRitchie Forest Campaign, which raises awareness about the dangers of the proposed Cross Island MRT Line there. Passionate about conserving Singapore’s biodiversity and passing on the enthusiasm, Chloe also volunteers with NUS Toddycats of the LKC Natural History Museum. What drivers her to fight for the conservation of our rain forests? Has she been receiving support from Singaporeans in her ambitius campaign? Come pop by for a casual dialogue session with Chloe and learn more about Singapore’s beautiful forests and her campaigns.
