Dr. Gene Segarra NAVERA is Senior Lecturer, Deputy Director at CELC, and a Fellow at Tembusu College, National University of Singapore. With over two decades of experience in higher education, Gene an award-winning educator who teaches interdisciplinary seminars, academic writing, and communication.
Gene holds a PhD in English Language Studies from NUS and master’s and bachelor’s degrees in communication from the University of the Philippines. His research explores rhetoric, critical discourse, and communication pedagogy, with a focus on presidential address, civics, gender, and popular culture. He is the author of The Rhetoric of PNoy (2018) and Beauty Spectacle (2025).
Additionally, Gene serves on several international editorial boards, including Springer’s The Language of Politics series and Plaridel.
