Dr. Salome Rebello is a Senior Lecturer at the Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health, NUS. She studies modern food environments and food systems to see how they can be measured and redesigned to better support healthy eating and living. Her recent work looks at digital food ecosystems, focusing especially on young adults.
Salome teaches public health nutrition, food environments, epidemiology and data literacy. She uses various approaches to answer research questions, including long-running cohort studies, randomised trials, qualitative interviews, and newer methods that track what people eat and feel in real-time. She holds a PhD from the University of Minnesota, and leads the Singapore arm of INFORMAS, an international network of researchers focused on monitoring food environments and promoting more effective food policies.
In her free time, Salome enjoys exploring nature and cultures, both ancient and new. She also sings (whenever there is a choir to join!), and reads, with a particular fondness for mystery, poetry and fantasy.
