The Tembusu (Fagraea fragrans) is a large evergreen tree in the family Gentianaceae. It is native to Southeast Asia. Its trunk is dark brown, with deeply fissured bark, looking somewhat like a bittergourd. It grows in an irregular shape from 10 to 25m high. Its leaves are light green and oval in shape. Its yellowish flowers have a distinct fragrance and the fruits of the tree are bitter tasting red berries, which are eaten by birds and fruit bats. Source: Tembusu, Wikipedia

Sherwin is a fourth-year undergraduate pursuing a double major in Business Administration and Psychology (preferring the latter over the former). He finds great satisfaction in making those around him smile – be it through deep conversations, stress-relieving activities, or friendly banter – all of which have been motivations for his involvement in the Ora House Committee, as well as interest groups like LoveTembusu and tMentors.

Outside of lectures, Sherwin can be found listening to all kinds of music – be it indie pop, jazz, Chinese classical music (from his time in Chinese Orchestra), or whatever comes up on his Spotify shuffle. His (newfound) love for brewing coffee often finds him at morning sessions with Tembusu Coffeehouse. If he has the energy to spare, he can be found dashing around in tShuttlers or Tembusu Table Tennis, or having midnight runs around UTown. Always eager to seek new experiences, Sherwin welcomes invitations to any relaxing or adventurous activities he has not tried before.

Having made lifelong friends and plenty of serotonin-inducing memories throughout his three years at Tembusu College, Sherwin hopes to spend his last year in the college helping others create similar treasurable experiences through the Residential Team. He understands the ups and downs of university life – that sometimes things may or may not be as smooth-sailing as others say – and is always happy to lend a listening ear or to simply be around.
