The Tembusu (Fagraea fragrans) is a large evergreen tree in the family Gentianaceae. It is native to Southeast Asia. Its trunk is dark brown, with deeply fissured bark, looking somewhat like a bittergourd. It grows in an irregular shape from 10 to 25m high. Its leaves are light green and oval in shape. Its yellowish flowers have a distinct fragrance and the fruits of the tree are bitter tasting red berries, which are eaten by birds and fruit bats. Source: Tembusu, Wikipedia

Max is a third-year Civil Engineering major with a minor in Management. He finds joy in engineering because it helps him see the world in new ways, which always excites him.

Passionate about music, Max plays the guitar and believes in its power to bring people together through unique musical expressions. Striving to be actively involved in Tembusu College’s music scene, he eagerly performs whenever opportunities arise. Alongside music, Max explores the world through photography, capturing precious moments that tell stories from various perspectives. In his second year, Max was one of the Co-Heads of tAstro, Tembusu College’s Astronomy Interest Group. One of the highlights of his Tembusu College experience was seeing the large crowds of Tembusians gathering in UTown Green to appreciate the beauty of the night sky!

In his role as a residential assistant, Max is eager to connect with others meaningfully. Join him for spontaneous night walks and deep conversations—it’s a great way to unwind and share stories together. Max believes in creating a welcoming environment where everyone feels valued and heard.
